The Crumar Multiman-S was released in the late 1970s. It was what was known at the time as a “String Ensemble”, a type of instrument also produced by other brands. In Europe, it was called the Multiman-S, while in the USA, it was known as the Orchestrator.
This virtual instrument aims to recreate the original in digital form, yet it goes beyond the original’s capabilities. It offers additional settings, MIDI learn functionality, and preset saving, as well as five built-in effect pedals. Connecting the instrument to effect pedals was a common practice among owners looking to expand its sonic palette, as the Multiman was not a sound-design synthesizer and had a limited range of timbres. However, it did feature full 61-note polyphony, a trait shared by its virtual counterpart. The integrated effects emulate the pedals of that era but offer stereo operation, which was not possible with the original hardware (with the exception of the formant resonator, where stereo functionality would not really make sense).
If you want that 70s/80s sound, it’s an excellent addition to your vintage arsenal. So, go ahead and indulge yourself. The license is assigned to a single user, but you can install it on multiple computers.
